Cocks go limp in Omaha!

The South Carolina Gamecocks had their manhood taken away from them once more in Omaha, Nebraska.

The Cocks (11-0 first round losers to Ga. Tech last year) were roughly stroked and beaten by the Stanford Cardinal in the opening round of the College World Series.  The 8-0 shellacking was not as close as the score indicates.

The Cardinal stroked Cock starter David Marchbanks for 6 runs on seven hits in a little over three innings.  Reliever Chris Hernandez did not fare much better, giving up a run on one hit and three walks in a little over an inning of work.

Justin Harris and Kevin Melillo had the only 2 hits for the Cocks, as Stanford ace John Hudgins picked up the win.  Hudgins gave up 2 hits and walked only one, while striking out three cock batters.

The Cocks will play the LSU/Cal St. Fullerton loser on Sunday.
